Electronic Arts
today announced that they are joining a group of businesses opposing DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). In case you aren't familiar with it, the
Defense of Marriage Act is a federal law that defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman. The law also states that no U.S. state or political subdivision is required to recognize a same-sex marriage treated as a marriage in another state, and that no same-sex marriage need be recognized for federal purposes, such as insurance benefits or the filing of joint tax returns. By standing up against the law, EA is joining dozens of other companies in signing an amicus brief with the Ninth Circuit of Appeals to find portions of the act unconstitutional.
