Apples to Apples
This new-classic game has led to several new editions. The original is the best, though, as an easy game to play with a variety people of different ages and varying skill levels. Players match nouns with adjectives, revealing a lot about them and the people who pick the winners.
Cranium
A more active board game, Cranium has players of all ages drawing pictures, building things out of play, answering trivia, and acting things out. Cranium is an excellent party game since its varied gameplay means there's something fun for everyone.
Settlers of Catan
Evolving over the years, the original strategy game fun for its trading dynamic that encourages interaction between players. Settlers of Catan is a race to build the most extensive settlement and one hallmark of its great design is the fact that players aren't eliminated early on, as sometimes happens in games like Monopoly.
