Moeller Wins 6th Baseball State Championship

Columbus, OH (FOX19) - The Moeller baseball team is now a perfect 6-for-6 in state baseball championship games.

The Crusaders held off a late Westlake High School comeback Saturday afternoon at Huntington Park in Columbus to win the Division I state title, 9-6.

Moeller grabbed a commanding early lead with a 5-run second inning, highlighted, by a two-run extra base hit from Ryan Mahan and an RBI single from Jordan Simpson.

John Tanner started the game on the mound for Moeller and struck out six.? Phillip Diehl came in relief and earned the win.

Moeller set a Division I championship game record with 10 stolen bases.

The Crusaders won 16 of their final 17 games to win the championship.
